des·ti·na·tion - ‘The ultimate purpose for something that is created or intended'

Cafe Moto is a beach-side family friendly, classic motoring themed venue at the gateway to Victoria's Mornington Peninsula.

Earthy and imaginative ~ Cafe Moto offers the motoring and wider community something distinctively different.

It's with anger and regret that we have to announce that our popular Food Truck Sunday's have been cancelled until further notice.
The Fun Police (Kingston City Council) have blocked our attempts to continue them.

Up until now we have been running on temporary permits to gauge popularity. Our application for a permanent permit has come back with 'unlikely to be approved' in its current form. They have basically suggested we can run the food trucks, but only in our existing licence area - i.e. Within the beer garden, which you couldn't even fit one truck in.

Anyone who has any knowledge of licensing knows this is a complicated, bureaucratic and expensive process. You must submit two seperate applications to the council and to the Victorian Commission for Gambling & Liquor regulation (VGCLR) and approvals must also come from local Police. Discussions with VGCLR have been really positive, chats with local Police have been really positive (despite us getting ticked off last time for having wrong signage up, in fairness the local Bobby could have been difficult, but was actually quite helpful and supportive). But the sticking point, as it is always with these things, is council.

We feel passionate about this as these regular events have brought our local community together; young, old and everyone in between! In addition we have been providing much needed support for Frankston Dolphin Peninsula Sports, who benefits from the gold coin donations at the gates.

Given the #danielandrews recent announcement of an injection of $50m for a beach promenade precinct at Carrum it's truely ironic that the local government can roadblock our safe, healthy and positive community activity.

This event isn't about the commercial gain for Cafe Moto (who would close their cafe and invite other food traders in?!) This is about building a strong community and putting beautiful Carrum Beach on the map.
